SICSA Logo Competition Winner
The SICSA Organising Committee took the decision to have a bespoke logo for this year’s Conference and presented this opportunity to our SGA community.
We were extremely pleased with the submissions which showed the wonderful talent of our students. The Winner of our Logo Competition is Jonathan Wood.
Name: Jonathan Wood
University: Edinburgh Napier, Course: Year 2, Digital Media and Interaction Design
“I am a 21-year-old Scottish designer who is about to begin studying at Edinburgh Napier University, studying Digital Media and Interaction Design.
A former colleague of mine spotted the blog post about the SICSA Conference logo design challenge and thought I should have a go. I was inspired by the brief to create a logo representing the ideas of “Scotland” and “digital” visually. For logos, I always think that the simpler, the better and so decided on using the Scottish flag with one of its four sections made of pixels as a symbol of digital being undeniably a core part of Scotland’s identity as a nation. I then added a wave effect to the flag to add some dynamism, added the text in SICSA’s typeface and coloured everything in their signature blue.
I was delighted to find out I had won the competition! I want to thank the team at SICSA for presenting me this fantastic opportunity to get my work out there”.
